Elizabeth City man sentenced to 12 years after pleading guilty to drug distribution charges

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WAVY) — A person from Elizabeth Metropolis has been sentenced to 144 months (12 years) behind bars for drug distribution prices.

Based on the Division of Justice, 37-year-old Maurice Dwight Toxey plead responsible in June of 2021 to distributing cocaine, cocaine base (crack), and fentanyl.

Prosecutors say Toxey was concerned within the distribution of narcotics together with cocaine, crack, methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl within the communities surrounding Elizabeth Metropolis and the Outer Banks.

Members of regulation enforcement have been in a position to conduct managed purchases of medicine from Toxey, together with some offers whereas Toxey was on state probation.

Toxey has beforehand been convicted of crimes involving the distribution or possession with the intent to promote or ship managed substances.
